An engineering career built on understanding how businesses work

I began my career in accounting before moving into software engineering in June 2000. That foundation still shapes how I approach ERP work: a transaction must make sense to the business as well as to the application.

Over the years, my work has covered software development, Microsoft Dynamics consulting, solution architecture and project delivery. I have extensive experience working with U.S.-based organizations and collaborating with finance leaders, operations teams, developers and implementation partners.

I remain directly involved in technical work. My experience spans Dynamics GP customization, SQL troubleshooting, integration development, Business Central AL extensions, data migration and workflow automation. I have also led engineering teams and cross-functional ERP projects, which helps me understand where an individual specialist can contribute within a larger delivery effort.

Finance and operations inform the technical decisions

My education includes a Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Commerce and postgraduate study in business administration with a finance specialization. My early accounting work included bookkeeping, bank reconciliation and preparation of financial statements.

That background helps me connect ERP behavior with general ledger, payables, receivables, cash flow, inventory valuation, multi-entity and intercompany requirements. It also helps me investigate why a technically successful integration might still produce the wrong financial or operational result.

What you can engage me for

You can work with me on functional analysis, architecture, hands-on development, troubleshooting, migration, integration, technical review and documentation. The starting point may be a specific problem or a broader change that needs an experienced contributor.

I assess the system and agree the scope before recommending a solution. Where a requirement needs additional platform expertise or a different delivery arrangement, I make that boundary clear.
